Homework Answers

Answer #1

Adenocortical tumor are tumors of the adrenal gland. Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal gland and it has some functions, including increasing blood sugar. It has been found in most cases of Adrenocortical tumors there is increased cortisol production (Birgit Herbeck et al, 2013). So, this increase in cortisol level is supposed to cause increased blood sugar levels i.e hyperglycemia. People with adrenocortical tumor have a weak immune system mainly due to less number of or inactive CD3+/CD8+ T cells.

In the current U.S. economy, could you imagine a set of conditions where increased federal government spending actually caused private investment spending to rise (not fall)? Explain with an example, how this “crowding in” might occur.

Genetics:Pick a specific tumor suppressor gene or oncogene and explain how this gene can lead to or prevent cancer. Be sure to focus on the mechanism of how your chosen gene impacts the cell cycle. You can alternatively pick a virus that has been associated with cancer and explain how that virus impacts the cell cycle and ultimately leads to cancer. In laymen's terms please, this is a litlle confusing to me, thank you
