Generally the equation for the pH of the buffer is pH=pK+og [HCO3-]/[H2CO3].

under normal conditions the pK=6.1,so the equation becomes

pH = 6.1 + log [HCO3-]/[H2CO3].

so the above questions can be solved from this

so on substituting, pH=6.1+log 1.3979

pH=7.497

Q2. the ratio of bicarbonate to carbonic acid is 20/1.5

so on substituting pH=6.1+log 13.333
