Diet is an important risk factor in coronary artery disease. An increased amount of fat ( especially saturated fat) can alter the balance of LDL ( bad cholesterol ) and HDL ( good cholesterol). The increased amount of LDL , the lipoproteins which cause deposition of fat within cells will led to the formation of atheromatous plaque which consists of lipids, calcium, macrophage cells, fibrous connective tissues in the coronary arteries. This will lead to the narrowing of coronary arteries and blood flow to the heart decreases .sometimes it may lead to even myocardial infarction
