Diabetes mellitus:- Diabetes mellitus is a group of diseases that result in too much sugar in the blood .

Diabetes mellitus is of two types:-

1. Type 1 diabetes mellitus or juvenile diabetes mellitus.

2. Type 2 diabetes mellitus or adult diabetes mellitus.

● Etiology of type 1 diabetes mellitus is as follows:-

- Type 1 diabetes mellitus is unknown but it is believed to involve a combination of genetic and environmental factors.

- Type 1 diabetes mellitus is caused by autoimmune destruction of the insulin producing beta cells in the pancreas.

● Etiology of type 2 diabetes mellitus is as follows:-

- obesity,

- lack of exercise,

- type 2 diabetes mellitus is caused by inability of cells to respond to insulin in the bloodstream due to obesity and lack of exercise.
