  • FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) & LH ( luteinising hormone) are produced by the anterior pituitary which affect the male reproductive function.
  • FSH will act on sertoli cells of the testis. LH will act on the leydig cells of the testis.LH is also known as a interstitial cell stimulating hormone .
  • FSH is responsible for the initiation of spermatogenesis which is formation sperms (male gametes) . FSH stimulates formation of estrogen from sertoli cells.
  • LH is essential for the secretion of testosterone from the Leydig cells ,which is also necessary for the spermatogenesis
