The various risk factors include obesity, smoking, drinking alcohol etc and other complications like atherosclerosis may also cause hypertension. The chronic hypertension is mainly seen during pregnancy conditions.

* Chronic hypertension may primarily cause cardiovascular disease includes Stroke, heart failure, heart attack and aneurysm. Dementia may also be seen during chronic hypertension.
