Answer in at least 100 words:
Barney has a very badly cut blood vessel in the lower leg. It is important to put pressure between the cut and the heart so that Barney will not bleed to death before he gets medical attention. The blood appears to be surging out in cycles of high and then low pressure. How would you determine the nature of the vessel and where would you put the pressure?
Answer :)
The blood was emerging in cycles of high and low-pressure i.e. pulsating expulsion. Therefore, this is a cut in an artery. Now, a bleeding artery needs to stop by applying more pressure. To do so, find the pulsing area of the vessel that would be easily used to stop the blood. If that cannot happen, apply pressure proximally on the bleeding artery, towards the heart. Bind the applied area by bandages after stopping the bleeding. A tourniquet can also use to bind the pressure applied area.
