These are also called iatrogenic (physician induced) diseases, and are functional disturbances (disease) caused by drugs which persist even after the offending drug has been withdrawn and largely eliminated, e.g.:

1.)Peptic ulcer by salicylates and corticosteroids.

In general, the risk of adverse drug reaction (iatrogenic effect) increases with increasing number of drugs administered. Adverse effects of drugs may appear due to:

1.drug overdose

2.genetic predisposition

3.exaggerated pharmacologic response; 4.interaction with other drugs
