Bronchitis is an infection of the bronchi. When it occurs, the bronchi accumulate mucous and become inflamed, which restricts air flow. What are some of the respiratory defenses that protect the bronchi from infections? Are the bronchi part of the conducting or respiratory zone?
a. Some of the respiratory defenses include mucous, cilia, and goblet cells. The bronchi are part of the respiratory zone.
b. Some of the respiratory defenses include inflammation and fever. The bronchi are part of the respiratory zone.
c. Some of the respiratory defenses include mucous, cilia, and goblet cells. The bronchi are part of the conducting zone.
d. Some of the respiratory defenses include inflammation and fever. The bronchi are part of the conducting zone.
Option C.
The respiratory defenses includes the mucous which are produced by the goblet cells and these traps the foreign particles and the cilia which are present on the epithelial lining cells will wash away the trapped particles to outside or is transfered to the pharynx and was swallowed later (acid in the stomach will destroy the swallowed particles)
And bronchi are a part of the conducting zones of the lung becauses it conducts the air to the alveoli and doesn't take part in gaseous exchange.
Hope this helps.... Thank you!!!
