A patient in your office needs to be referred for three-dimensional imaging in order to begin her implant treatment planning. How will you explain the importance of obtaining three-dimensional imaging in terms that the patient can understand?

Three dimensional imaging is required to know and choose the appropriate dimensions of the implant. Three dimensional imaging gives the visual interpretation of the interior of the body and based upon that implant sizes can be ascertained to implant in that body part. For example three dimensional imaging done by orthodontists give them an idea and visual representation of form and structure of craniofacial parts and based upon this orthodontists can choose an appropriate tooth implant. Three dimensional imaging gives better picture of bones and based upon this bone implants can be choosen.
