The coordinates of the turning point of the graph of y = 4x 2 − x − 3
From the above graph we can easily see that turning point of graph is (0,-3)
alternative method to find turning point -
On equating zero given equation we get x-coordinate, so put y = 0 in the equation
4x2-x-3=0
(4x+3)(x-1)=0
x=-3/4 and 1 or -0.75 and 1
find the y-intercept, put x = 0 into the equation
y=-3
Now we add the x-intercepts together and divide by 2.
x coordinate =(-0.75+1)/2
=0.25/2
=0.125
And y coordinate of turning point=4(0.125)2-0.125-3
=-3.0625
Hence turning point is (0.125 , -3.0625)
