Answer #1

Progression of Geometry

Geometry has been an important and very natural aspect of studying basic sciences. The first foundation of geometry is often attributed to Euclid in his "Elements" . The book are of aesthetic value as it showed new insights towards geometric construction. But as time goes on people become more aware and have more critical views towards science. The same thing happened here also when a mathematician named David Hilbert came into the picture . He thought of putting geometry as a theory builder rather than construction . For example Euclid did not have the definition of point although wrote marvel geometry  . Hilbert proposed his axiom to avoid vague definition , redundancies, circular arguments .

Now we want to analyze a physical system comprised of two particles. Look at the pair-wise potential energy. Suppose r is equal to 1.2s. a) Suppose the particles are momentarily at rest at r = 1.2s (like a ball at the top of its trajectory when thrown straight up). What can you say about the total energy, Etot, and the subsequent motion of the two particles? b) Now suppose at the instant the particles have the separation 1.2s they have...
