Explain (in detail) the steps when it comes to the order of operations. Give an example of each.

Answer #1

The order of operation is given by BODMAS rule which stands for Brackets, Orders( exponents) , Divison, Multiplication, Addition and subtraction.

Thus to calculate compex equations involving many operations one should follow BODMAS rule and the sequence of operation is same as its full form that is one should solve bracket first, than orders/powers/exponents than division, than multiplication and after it addition and subtraction.

For Example :

solve : 20*4 - ( 6/12)* 9.8 *3^2

step 1: solve the bracket that is 6/12= 0.5 , therefore equation becomes

20*4-0.5*9.8*3^2

step 2 : now solve the order or exponent that is 3^2=9, therefore equation becomes

20*4-0.5*9.8*9

step 3 : now solve multiplication, thus equation reduced to

80-44.1

step 4 : Now final step which gives result us. therfore

80-44.1 = 35.9

In this way order of operation in maths works.
