Identify which methods can you use to calculate the volume of a solid. do you think some methods are easier to use than others. ( triple integrals)

Describe a situation from your everyday life where it might be useful to calculate the volume of a solid. explain how would you approach the problem.

topic covered in class ( TRIPLE INTEGRALS)

Answer #1

We can use the following methods

a)If it is a regular known shape with regular sides you can just apply the formula for solids like cube, sphere, cylinder etc

b)If it is a solid that can be broken down into our known regular shapes then use the known formulas and calculate.

c) For irregular shapes you can just use triple integrals

over a region E .

Some ways are easier, if we have a regular solids, instead of remembering formulas, we can just triple integrate it over its dimensions to get the same answer as the formula.

In our daily lives, we can use it to calculate our coffee cups volume to see how much milk and coffee powder we need for amount of coffee in the volume such as a cylinder.I would calculate its length and Radius and apply the formula because i remember it, if not then I'll integrate using triple integrals using the dimensions of the cup.
