Jane McGee, the mathematics editor at a major publishing house, estimates that
if x thousand complimentary copies are distributed to professors, the first-year
sales of a certain new text will be
f (x) = 28 - 18e -0.2x thousand copies.
Currently, Jane is planning to distribute 9000 complimentary copies. Use
marginal analysis to estimate the increase in first-year sales that Jane should
expect if 1500 additional complimentary copies are distributed

.

please thumbs up for this solution...thanks..

.

f(x) = 28-18e^(-0.2x)

so marginal function = 3.6* e^(-0.2x)

at 9000 copies ...value of x = 9 ... so , marginal sale value = 0.595076

means that for 1000 copies increase , 0.595076 thousands  sales increase ...

Therefore for 1500 copies increase ,

sales increase by 0.892614  thousands...  this is equal to 892.6 ~ 893 approximately ..
