Lab 1 Part 2 One dimensional Motion Two groups of scientists are testing the force of a spring. Your job is to determine if this data is equivalent, and what are the statistical differences between the two groups. Calculate the initial velocity as the object leaves the spring. WHAT IS THE TITLE OF THIS LAB, understand what that means. Use on the data from each group, do not grab information from the other groups experiment, none, not a single parameter. Each group approached this from a different measurement. You are given two sets of raw data. Your goal is to establish the initial velocity of the object as it leaves the spring and analyze the date between the two groups and draw a conclusion, defend that conclusion based on the statistics used. Group A (Coastal Ice Land): took the following measurements of the angle at the projectiles highest point. To measure this angle an observer a 212 m from the spring from which the angle was measured. The spring is on the ground and the object is projected vertically. The data presented is in degrees. ϴ1 38.629 ϴ2 38.534 ϴ3 38.343 ϴ4 38.914 ϴ5 39.387 ϴ6 39.669 Group B (Bogota Colombia) took the following measurements of the time it took the projectile to return to the ground. The data is presented in seconds. t1 12.01 t2 11.91 t3 11.95 t4 12.04 t5 12.25 t6 12.09 Your task is the statistically analyze the data and provide analysis on the following questions. a. Which groups data is more accurate or precise? b. Are these groups using the same spring in this experiment. c. If any differences in the data discuss possible sources of the differences. d. Consider location as to a cause of difference, and what parameter will this effect. What part of the difference does this account for. e. Discuss your answers to all these and explain your reasoning.
