Those who are against stand-your-ground laws argue that they encourage vigilantism and preemptive shootings. Do you agree? Explain. “A person’s home is his or her castle.” Does this traditional saying justify the use of deadly force against an intruder under all circumstances? Why or why not?
1.
Agree - as stand-your-ground laws encourage the people to take the law in their own hands and misuse the level of freedom provided.
Disagree - because such laws discourage the crime by otherwise law-abiding citizen and thereby reduces the level of vigilantism and preemptive shooting.
2.
Agree - Because the intruder can cause harm of life or threaten to harm life of the person or his/her family. So, use of deadly force is necessary against intruder to get away with future loss of life and property.
Disagree - Because the life of intruder too is more valuable that the loss/damage of property under any given situation. Also, thaking a harsh action can prove to be costly.
