LO 8.1 Fiona cleans offices. She is allowed 5 seconds per square foot. She cleans building A, which is 3,000 square feet, and building B, which is 2,460 square feet. Will she finish these two buildings in an 8-hour shift? Will she have time for a break?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Time taken to clean per square foot = 5 Second

Building A size = 3,000 square feet

Building B size = 2,460 square feet

Time taken to clean Building A = Time taken to clean per square foot x Building A size

= 5 x 3,000

= 15,000 secod

Time taken to clean Building B = Time taken to clean per square foot x Building B size

= 5 x 2,460

= 12,300 second

Total time taken to clean building A and B = Time taken to clean Building A + Time taken to clean Building B

= 15,000 + 12,300

= 27,300

Shift hour = 8 hours or 28,800 second

she have time for a break = Shift hour - Total time taken to clean building A and B

= 28,800 - 27,300

= 1,500 second

Yes, she will finish these two building in a 8 hours shift and have time for a break.
