Technology plays a crucial role in accomplishment of an audit. Technology in the name of Automation is happening all over the world and hence auditor needs to use the technology to find the fraud or misstatements that happened in such systems. There are softwares that are used by the auditors to accomplish their goals in an easy and effective manner. For example, as an auditor I use spreadsheet very often for data comparisons needs and barcodes to find the assets and avoid double counting etc. Software like PowerPoint helps in presentation of report more effective and attractive manner. Many softwares used to find whether any modifications are done for the data and who did that.
