Answer #1

Elimination of Service machinery is the activity of the centralised Service dept.

The activities which are supporting to manufacturing process are called service activities. For example repairs and maintainence of machinery is called support activities. Service activities are assigned to work centers rather than centeralised service department. For eg. each work center may be assigned the responsibility of repairs and maintainence of machinery and equipments, this gains a better understanding of its production process and its machinery. in turn, it helps totake better care of the machinery, which in turn decreases the repairs and maintainence cost, reduces machine downtime and improves product quality.
