The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) is the federal law which sets minimum wages, overtime, record keeping and youth employment standards. Under this act, an employee can be covered in two ways i.e., enterprise coverage & individual coverage

An enterprise are covered under the FLSA, only if

i) it has atleast 2 employees and

ii) have an annual dollar volume of sales or business done of atleast $,500,000 and

iii) this enterprise are hospitals, business providing medical or nursing care for residents, schools and preschools, and government agencies

Therefore, A FLSA covered enterprise is the related activities performed through unified operation or common control by any period or persons for a common business purpose and 'Is engaged in the operation of a hospital, an institution  primarily engaged in the care of the healthy, the young, or mentally ill who reside on the premises; a school for mentally or physically disabled or gifted children; a preschool, an elementary or secondary school, or an institution of higher education'.
