Homework Answers

Answer #1

Utilities is a variable cost.

Utilities cost per unit = $42,800 / 1,000 units = $42.8

Maintenance has variable cost portion and fixed cost portion.

Maintenance variable cost = $30,780

Maintenance cost per unit = $30,780 / 1,000 units = $30.78

Maintenance fixed cost = Total cost - Variable cost

= $57,000 - $30,780

= $26,220

Supervision is a fixed cost

Total overhead costs in March = Utilities + Maintenance + Supervision

= ($42.8 * 1,300 units) + [($30.78 * 1,300 units) + $26,220] + $23,000

= $55,640 + $66,234 + $23,000

= $144,874
