Sampling and all the different types of sampling someone could use.
If you wanted to conduct a random sample of 200 students at a college, what are two different ways in which you could collect this sample? Also, if you wanted to collect a convenient sample of 200 students at a college. What are two different ways in which you could do this? Answer #1

Ans. Simple random sample: in this case each unit of population is identified and all units must have known , non zero chance of being selected into the sample.

Method 1 : Assign each student a unique number between 1 to 200 . Then refer to a table of random numbers. Starting any point of table, read across or down and note every number that falls between 1 to 200. Use the number that found to pull the name from the list that corresponded to the 20 number you found. That 20 number are sample .

Method 2. Systematic random sampling: suppose you want sample 20 student divided total no student 200 by sample size 20 ,. The Answer will 10 . This means you are going to select every 10th number from list of 200.

Method 1 is more would be more generalizable to a college population.

The goal of statistics is to use data to understand something about the world. To obtain useful results, a scientific approach should be followed. The basic approach can be summarized into a few steps. Write a question that can be answered by collecting data. Determine what variables to measure and how to collect a data sample. Analyze the data and create appropriate summaries. Create a report of the results, drawing conclusions or inferences where appropriate. For example, suppose you are...
