A charitable contribution of more than $250 will only be considered qualified and allowed to be deducted when the donor has a written acknowledgment from the charitable organizational . The person will not be allowed to claim any deduction of his/her contribution unless and untill he maintains a written acknowledgement of his contribution from the organization i.e. the donee.

It is the duty of the donor to ask and maintain the written acknowledgement or substation from the donee.
