An assumption, on the other hand, is a belief without proof. We, as a society, have grown accustomed to assumptions being presented to us as facts.and opinion is a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter.

Examples of opinion - .United States of America was involved in the Vietnam War," versus "United States of America was right to get involved in the Vietnam War". An opinion may be supported by facts and principles, in which case it becomes an argument. ... Opinions rarely change without new arguments being presented.
