Accounting Major: The accounting major is really designed to prepare students to become professional accountants, joining CPA(Certified Public Accountant) firms and passing the exam. Once people earn their CPA, they can and often do move on to other opportunities, commonly placing themselves on the track become a comptroller and then a CFO. Thus, a strong background in finance is recommended for accounting students if they can handle the additional course work; a 2nd major might not be essential, but just as many extra finance courses as can be fit into their schedule.

Accounting Minor: There can be many choices which students can really choose from. The below are some of the choices available.

Foreign Language, Finance, Business, Legal Studies, etc.,

Foreign Language can be really useful if you want to work for a mulitnational corporation. Languages like Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean are in demand right now.

Finance and accounts goes hand in hand. Good finance knowledge can be a major boost to your carrier.

Accounting knowledge coupled with busniess administrative ability/ skill can provide a perfect balance as many minors work in business in various capacities.
