Technology has both enhanced and hindered my education in a numerous amount of ways. Technology has been beneficial to my education in a number of ways, from small things like calculators for solving difficult math problems to more complex things like computer programs that can correct your grammar and spelling. Technology has also been damaging to mine and many others education from time wasted surfing the web or playing games while our school work is in another tab. Many people multitask repeatably. In the short reading “You’ll Never Learn!” by Annie Murphy Paul she claims when students multitask their learning becomes much spottier and shallower. I agree with Miss Paul’s statement based off of my own personal experience. I no longer multitask while I study due to the fact that it takes me much longer to finish and I don’t feel like I retain the information as well if I had sat down and finished it all at once. From a young age I have struggled with my attention so I have learned the best way to get things done is to do one task at a time. Overall I agree with Annie Murphy Paul, if students don’t learn to sit down and finish tasks all at once without distraction they will never learn the information as well as the last generation.
WHAT DO YOU AGREE ON THIS PAGE OR HOW WOULD COMMENT?
Even I agree with Annie Murphy Paul, Finishing a task in one go without any distraction is hard these days.
Whenever students feel they are tired while doing a task, they turn towards playing games on computer or social media, where they don't keep track of time and as a end result they spend more time on games and surfing, which keeps the main task incomplete.
Multitasking is a good thing, if students keep track of time by setting reminders. It helps students learn more from the internet.. But, by finishing the task in one go gives excess time to the students, which they can spend on other activities.
There may be few exceptions to the above theory, it all depends on the ability and concentratiin of the students.
Hope this helps:)
