General Contractor, INC. was hired to build a dorm at Tufts. General contractor hired Ed the electrician to do all the electrical work for the dorm. Which of the following is true?

A. GC is liable for the negligent acts of Ed the electrician.

b. Ed the electrician is an employee

c. Ed can also do plumbing work for General Contractor

d. None of the above

Answer: The Answer is option ‘A’ – GC is liable for the negligent acts of Ed the electrician. As the Tufts has hired the general contractor they are liable for the work and any wrong doing of the person deployed by the general contractor, the general contractor is only liable. Even though he is an employee of Ed he has been deployed by the general contractor. It is a case where the work has been given to subcontractor.
