Downsizing can take a toll on society, especially when a large percentage of a firm’s employees are terminated. Should government restrictions be placed on downsizing? Why or why not?

Answer #1

Downsizing refers to termination of employees of a company all of a sudden. Companies go for termination of employees in order to reduce costs when they are not in requirement of such huge number of employee base.

This would take a negative toll on society as a huge number of people would loss their jobs, and their families also don't have any source of income all of a sudden.

Government should bring in rules against downsizing, which would benefit the employees unions. This restrictions should be made mandatory.
