In this exercise, processing and total time are measured in hours. As a result, your calculated throughput will produce the number of units/cars produced through the plant's production system per hour.
Rules:
* The plant runs two 8 hour shifts, 5 days per week. Total time is 80 hours.
* Due to maintenance and downtime, the plant's "processing time" comes in lower than "total time" available.
* Calculate and round Productive Processing Time and Yield to 2 decimal places. e.g., .83 .91 .67
* Round Productive Capacity and Throughput calculations to whole numbers. e.g., 8.25 would be 8. 14.78 would be 15.
As the plant's accountant, you are responsible for calculating and commenting on the plant's throughput. The figures for your analysis are:
Processing Time | 73 |
Total time | 80 |
Good units | 2,700 |
Total units produced | 2,905 |
Based on your calculations:
Throughput is calculated to be ___________ cars per hour.
Productive Capacity is calculated to be .___________
Productive Processing Time is calculated to be ._____________
Yield is calculated to be ._________________
Between the two factors -- Productive Processing Time and Yield --- the lowest factor is (enter "Productive Processing Time" or "Yield") __________ and needs to be improved.
Here is my Answer for the above question
1. Calculation of Throughput per hour
Throughput = Inventory of good units(salable units)/ time for that units
Throughput = 2700/73=37 units per hour
2. Calculation of Productive capacity
Productive capacity=Total machine hours capacity/ time required for production of one unit of product
Production capacity= 80/0.02753=2905 (assumed here plant working with 100% capacity)
3.Productive processing time
it is 73/80*100= 91.25%
4.Calculation of yield
Actual yield (salable goods)/ expected total products: 2700/2905*100=92.94%
5. in the above two factors productive processing should be improved
