I went trough a dilemma when I got hired in NJ. It is a small packaging food company. I started as a compliance supervisor. I remember being there for 5 months and there was a new supervisor every month. It was a red flag for me it was either something wrong with people that got hired or the plant manager. One months they could not find a supervisor for the line and I was told by HR that I was going to be moved to Line Supervisor until they hire someone else. We used to get orders and I had to make sure we had enough inventory for the week and I used to do my inventories every Monday but somehow there was a shortage every week. I mentioned this to the plant manager and I was told to tell the supply company that we did not get enough products or some vegetables went rotten or bad, and thats why there was a shortage so they could ship us more. Long story short I realized that few cases of each pallet where removed and saved apart every week for  "inspection". I couldn't sit and watch how these products never came back and just dissapeared in front of the eyes of the "manager". I spoke with HR and told every situation and that I was not going to participate lying to the other company. I was told by this HR assistant that they don't buy the products, its manufactured company-THIRD PARTY- that they just package food for another company and it was not a loss for the company. It is really difficult to work with people that are not honest and take advantage of bigger companies. And I quit since there was no change in the attitude of the manager and HR did nothing to stop it.

please put the summary and own opinion based on above ideas.

It's definitely not suggested to continue at a workplace which doesn't have moral ethics and doesn't promote transparent and honest culture.

However, it's very rare that such theft/pilferage is getting un-noticed both by end customers as well as the management of the company. Either the amount of loss is too negligible or the management is just not aware of the same.

It's always susggested to follow the hierarchy in such cases and goto the superiors of your Plant Manager to ensure that it's attended by the right people. Even if the HR is not responding or has colluded in these unethical practices, one shouldn't get dejected. It's the people doing wrong who should be made responsible and asked to leave their job rather than quitting yourself.

With honest & transparent work practices, your work will definitely be recognized sooner or later.
