In the year 2017, the company incurred losses of $1016 million which was subtracted from the beginning retained earnings of the company. Paypal was the holding of Ebay and the company has distributed the stock of Paypal back to its shareholders whose distribution was completed in the year 2015. Thus, there were different subtraction of the paypal distribution in the previous year.

Apart from net income, there was no addition and subtraction in the retained earnings of the company. The company does not distribute dividends.
