Your mid-term is worth 25% of total grades of your course. In the mid-term assignment, you are supposed to think as a HR Manager for an organisation as per below description.

Organisation Background

Your organisation is a Digital Media and Marketing Company, offering services such as: Graphic Desining, Media Marketing Designs, PR Management, Website & App Development. Your organisation is currently expanding and looking to hire a Regional Manager for BC as a part of the expansion. As a HR Manager for BC, you are given an budget of $ 20,000 to recruit such a candidate and train on key areas of the business once the person is hired.

Compensation to Regional Manager
It is a salaried position. No overtime as it is salaried role and salary range is between $ 60,000 - $ 70,000 (HR Manager will negotiate to fix it during the final selection) with 5% commission of sale if monthly sales go above $ 50,000 by the 6th month of hiring the candidate.
Benefits are included:
Medical, Dental, Vision, paid vacation of 15 days.
There is a probation period of 1 month and 15 days advance notice is required if someone wants to quit a job.

Note: Sales of your organisation dropped in the first quarter of 2020 and it is highly important the ideal candidate should fit in the company culture as well as should be capable of achieving goal of increase revenue and profitablity.

What you need to do?
Create a complete HR strategy with inclusion of how you will allocate your budget in making this strategy successful. Strategy should include the following processes:-

  1. Creation of the job description
  2. Promotion strategy of the job posting
  3. Recruitment of a candidate (all phases)
  4. Selection (all phases including interview types)
  5. Complete Onboarding:
    1. Orientation of the candidate (benefits, vacation etc)
    2. Training program
    3. Career Planning & Development
  6. How will your strategy change as per pandemic scenario, such as covid-19? What exactly you will change in your strategy during a pandemic?

Your strategy can impress your senior management and you might get promoted if it is practical and shows your HR skills learnt through the business course.
