SOLUTION

Question -1

Option A is correct i.e. 415 minutes.

To produce a unit of product-

Mixing department 3 minutes
Molding department 5 minutes
Casting department 7 minutes
Finishing department 4 minutes
Total 19 minutes

Time taken for 20 units = 19 minutes * 20 = 380 minutes

Time taken between departments for a batch-

Mixing Department 8 minutes
Mixing and Molding 5 minutes
Molding and Casting 10 minutes
Casting and Finishing 12 minutes
Total 35 minutes

Total Time taken for a batch of 20 units = 380 + 35 = 415 minutes

Question -2

Option B is correct i.e. 60 minutes.

Process time = Cutting department + Welding department + Polishing department + Finishing department

= 5 minutes per unit + 8 minutes per unit + 3 minutes per unit + 4 minutes per unit

= 20 minutes per unit

Wait time = 5 + 15 = 20

Move time = 12 + 8 = 20

Cycle time = 20 + 20 + 20 = 60 minutes
