Answer #1

Fixed design
A research design that works with fixed data gathering tools, not able to amend during data collection phase, often used in quantitative research. In website design, it means that the web browser will not be able to change the format text of the design as they see fit.
Flexible design
A research design strongly focusing on the researcher as data gather, able to intervene during data collection phase, often used in qualitative research.
Mixed design
Sometimes we have factorial designs in which one or more predictors has been manipulated using different participants and one or more predictors has been manipulated using the same participants . This is known as a mixed design. It is more similar to flexible design.

A microbiologist streaked a mixed culture of three different bacterial species across 4 different quadrants of a nutrient agar plate. Before going to the next quadrant in the series, he re-sterilized the loop and cooled it, then he dragged the loop across the previous quadrant into the next one. The purpose of streaking in this instance was to __________ reduce the concentration of the culture increase the concentration of the culture eliminate ambient bacteria from the environment eliminate ambient bacteria...

Three different liquids are mixed together in a calorimeter. The masses of the liquids are: m1 = 540 g, m2 = 400 g, m3 = 495 g. The specific heats are: c1 = 215 J/kg°C, c2 = 540 J/kg°C, c3 = 855 J/kg°C. The initial temperatures of the liquids are: T1 = 22.0 °C, T2 = 55.5 °C, T3 = 90.0 °C. What will be the temperature of the mixture in Celsius? (Enter only a number without a unit.)?
