June and Henry, a newlywed couple, decided that it is time to become “real grownups” and start hosting dinner parties at their place. The couple decided that in order to do so they need to invest in a big dining table so that they could have the entire family over. Because their apartment was not very big, June convinced Henry that they should buy a table that can extend to a larger size if needed, in order to accommodate more people at a dinner party. After looking at many tables with this feature, June found one that she really liked in CouponLand, a large discount retailer. The table that she liked was manufactured by Furniture Co. The table extends from 60 inches to 100 inches and has a spinning top that enables those dinning at the table to spin the top so that they can reach everything on the table without getting up. The spinning top, however, was installed with plastic pins, rather than metal pins, that were not ideal given how heavy the top is. Metal pins are much stronger but would have added a slight additional cost to manufacturing the table. Two weeks after buying the table June and Henry had a dozen people over for a dinner party. When one of the guests tried to spin the top to reach the pasta bowl, the plastic pins snapped and the top broke off and fell on June, causing serious injuries.

(a) Does June have a claim against Furniture Co.? Explain.

(b) Does June have a claim against CouponLand? Explain.
