2. Discuss how Nike now achieves sustainability since they've turned the company around?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

1. Nike has been greatly criticized in the past owing to its unfriendly employee policies. Nike had become the face of slave wages and forced overtime. It was sinking under a tide of scandals and that really affected the brand as a whole. 77 percent of Nike's workers had respiratory problems. They were also exposed to carcinogens.

2. Nike has had a turnaround and become a recognized sustainability leader. Nike took measures to train its employees on sustainability issues. Further, it required its suppliers to implement minimum wages. They looked into their purchasing practices and ways to improve them. They committed to transparency.
