If I accepted a job offer that was contingent upon background check, are they allowed to rescind the offer for any other reason than failed background check or would that be breach of contract since i signed the contract? This question is relevant because I know some people are being laid off right now.

    - Many employers conduct background check as a part of their hiring process.

      - In some cases job offer may be contingent upon the results of background check.

- If the employer or the HR manager founds any negative information about the candidate they may

   withdraw the job offer.

2.Basing on your question

- Employers or HR managers can rescind the job offers upon any reason (OR) for no reason at all.

- Even after job applicant signed the contract they can rescind the contract.

3.Conclusion

   A. Employers can rescind the job offer for any reason other than background check even after you

   have signed the contract.

B.This doesn't amounts to breach of contract.
