People may identify any of a wide variety of sources of software do not require heavy investment in hardware and/or software. One example that people are usually familiar with is Google Documents. In addition to Google providing the application, they also store the data files at no cost. Google has also targeted commercial organizations with Google Apps, their entry into Web-based office tools. With the strength of sales for netbooks and iPads, many people are increasing their reliance on Web applications. Some see totally Web-based applications as a trend that will ultimately reduce our need for powerful desktop or portable PCs. While there is a strong trend toward SaaS, when adopting the software, one must also consider potential negatives, such as the lack of control over the operation of the applications and data security issues.
