The triple bottom line recommends that companies commit to focus on social and environmental concerns just as they do on profits. The three bottom line are profit, people, and the planet. A TBL seeks to gauge a corporation's level of commitment to corporate social responsibility and its impact on the environment over time.

Consdering  a social enterprise run as a non-profit, but earning income by offering opportunities for handicapped people who have been labelled unemployable to earn a living by recycling. Here the company excel at the bottom line relating to the people and the planet as it is offering jobs to the disadvantaged people but it may face difficulty in relation to the profit sector due to the typr of product produced by the company.
