marriage is a legal term and a spiritual step right? a vow/commitment made in front of a judge/clergy member/god/justice of the peace. it affords certain legal rights to the parties involved. some even just consider it a piece of paper.
most, i assume is a fair guess, are taught you grow up, get married, and then you start a family. why? why is it done that way?
what is so important about that step, that, that is the usual and accepted way of procreating?
what is it about marriage that makes that the way to be?
does being married make you a better parent? does making a legal and spiritual commitment somehow make you more ready for children?
interesting tidbit - quick google search to a site called nationmaster.com using 19 countries - avg age of marriage = 28.1 and avg age of first child = 26.9
bw - just a discussion question. a thought in my head i thought id share and get opinions

Under federal law, more than 1,100 rights and benefits to marriage exist, none of which is available to gay and lesbian couples. Yes, you can do some complicated estate planning, but virtually all of the rights marriage conveys on a federal level are simply unavailable without full marriage rights.
Social Security and survivor benefits, tax benefits, Family and Medical Leave Act, immigration rights, estate taxes and equal access to a spouse’s retirement and benefits packages, including health care, are the obvious choices, but many of the federal rights of marriage are things most people never think of, such as spousal immunity in federal prosecutions.

As most of you know, here in California 'Same Sex Marriage' is now legal.
There are commercials all over the television saying how (in Public Schools) they will be teaching children about Same Sex Marriage and how a 'Princess can marry another Princess' (to make it understandable to children) ..
I'm just curious what other Mothers feel about this? if it were being taught to your child?
Would you be OK with it? or would you have a problem with it?

We live in a society in which women are basically taught from birth that men are all pigs who are just going to use them to get sex. And at the same time, men are complaining that women have the legal right to abort our children without our say so (something which I agree is unfair, by the way). And we're also complaining that women almost always get custody, particularly in cases when we aren't married.
If things are so screwed up, why do we even bother having sex before marriage? Really, if women think men are just going to use them for sex, why have sex? Why not save it until you meet someone who's so committed to spending the rest of his life with you that he's completely willing to marry you? And if men are so afraid of women aborting our children or keeping them from us, why just not do anything that could potentially create those children in the first place, except with someone who we trust enough to marry?
For me, this really isn't an issue of being religious (I'm not religious at all), or of being old fashioned. I just don't understand why people keep putting themselves in these same situations again and again if we don't have to? It's not like we would die if we didn't have sex. Problems like these are probably precisely the sociological reasons which caused society to first develop the belief that sex outside of wedlock was wrong in the first place.

Recently, we intend to pick up marriage license, plans to Hubei to receive the nearest principle, I heard that a marriage certificate and Zhunsheng Zheng can receive. What if we Zhunsheng Zheng marriage license and get where they are residing in the woman, then after the birth of a child's account should fall on the wrong?

it is important for children to attend school so that they can get an education, and be able to ask a question that makes sense so that someone can give a relevant answer...
there is no reason for children to phone school, unless perhaps they are going to be out of school for a while, and want to advise the teachers, so that they do not miss too much work..
there is no reason for children to bring phones to school, because they are there for an education, and having any devices to distract them will only get in the way of getting an education, as well as the potential for phones to be used as a way to cheat on tests (texting answers, looking up answers on the internet)

I'm not so sure they are... since I've entered the "real world", in none of my jobs have I encountered social situations that are anything like school. I don't work all day with 30 other people that are the exact same age as I am, I don't get up every hour and move to different office to perform a completely different task. And I don't have to raise my hand to ask to use the restroom, get a drink, sharpen my pencil, or just to speak.
