Serious: Toilet Repair? Related Questions

I don't care what I do, one of my toilets remains stopped up. Sometimes it flushes very well. Other times, it just needs to be plunged excessively. What would you suggest that I do? I don't have tons of money to pay someone to fix this. There may be something that I could do to straighten out this problem. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

i had to replace the flush valve in a toilet, when reattaching the tank to the bowl, i tightened the bolts too much and there's a hairline crack that's slowly leaking water. i tried a silicone sealant on the inside of the tank and around the bolts.

In this case, two of our toilets are not flushing at all, suddenly. I have tried to call my landlord but she is out of state. I am calling a plumber to come fix it, and will have to pick up the tab for now, but can I reasonably expect to either be compensated, or perhaps just take the amount of the next month's rent?
This is not personal damage to the toilet, it appears to be a water pressure issue of sorts. I get the impression there may have been previous issues before moving in with these toilets.

Situation:
I took my car in for service because the anti-lock brakes and traction system were coming on when I hit the brakes (dry pavement conditions). My lights also flickered and once the car stalled.
When I dropped the car off and explained the symptoms - the manager was not sure of the cause. When I did get a call from them, they said the car had the symptoms I mentioned when they took if for a test drive (duh) . They said they had difficulty finding the problem but blamed it on some corrosive wiring near the power distribution. Also, they said it took 3 hours of time to identify the problem and fix it, but it didn't take any parts.
I don't want to pay that much. I feel like they should have identified the problem sooner. I never signed a preauthorization for any cost. Do I have to pay the $240 to get my car back?
I would be happy to pay $80 for one hour of service. I feel they should have identified the problem in an hour.

I have no clue on the square footage of my house, but 3 of the 4 walls in the basement are dirt and one is cinder block with a dirt floor. I've been looking everywhere online and can't find a price for this kind of foundation work. I guess what will need to be done is some new concrete pilers to be poured down there. There are already some concrete pilers down there but the dirt that they are sitting on is literally washing away every single time it rains. If there is a way for my husband and father to team up and fix this, PLEASE send me a link to a website!!!! If not, then if you would know a round about estimate please let me know. I don't think it would be "as" expensive since it's not a concreat foundation... but I'm afraid the house is going to just fall in!

a friend moved to a basement as tenant, and
the land lord would NOT allow him to flush used toilet tissues into the toilet. i.e. should be put into a trash bin!
the land lord said it would clog the sewage sump pump.
both are unhappy about this!
is the land lord reasonable?
