How can teachers better help students who are shy and withdrawn?
Asked By Lindsey H,Last Answer By Lou At 2011.03,1 Answers

The majority of teachers I had growing up were not very understanding of children who were this way, and expected children like this to act the same way as the other children, even singling them out at times because they would have problems participating in things in the way that the teacher expected them to. How can teachers be more sensitive to these children's needs, but also help them to have more confidance and feel like a part of the class, not an outcast, or "different"?

Teachers, what do you look for in students?
Asked By Bujinkan Ninja,Last Answer By Sensei Scandal At 2011.03,1 Answers

There are usually questions about what to look for in a good martial arts teacher. But teachers, what do you look for in a good martial arts student? Should he be seen but not heard and just listen to what he is told? Or should he offer his input and opinions and ask questions? How exactly should a martial arts student act around his teacher?

Do Teachers talk as BAD ABOUT Students as Students talk about Teachers.?
Asked By i like grapes.,Last Answer By [email protected] At 2009.12,1 Answers

I've always wondered this...
I bet they do.

The other day my english teacher was away and about half the class were discussing him. They were not saying very nice things at all. In fact, they were saying horrible things. And this was all because he gave them Bad Marks on our speeches' which we did the other day.

But even though this teacher in particular didn't deserve to be bad-mouthed like that, I'm fairly certain many do. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm guessing teachers like to VENT occasionally...

Why are so many students in love with their teachers?
Asked By I don't know.,Last Answer By ECullen♥ At 2009.12,1 Answers

Like every time i go on here i always see a question relating to a "crush" on a teacher.

Seriously, what makes teachers so appealing to teenagers?

Do teachers think about their students outside of class?

I've always kind of wondered this. Do you ever think about them in any way, and if you do, what is it usually about? I'm really curious. Do you ever worry about a student and try to think of a way to help them? Or when they do really well on something do you think about them at all? I honestly have no clue.

Why should chemistry students (and teachers) have to put up with this?
Asked By Paul B,Last Answer By L. A. L. At 2009.12,1 Answers

Why should chemistry students (and teachers) have to put up with these very boring topics, nothing to do with chemistry which is the study of structure, reactivity, and behaviour of substances:

Significant figures, which is either common sense or (in more interesting cases) really requires calculus.

Problems that mix up different kinds of unit, e.g. ft and cm, or g and lb. Or even cm and mm when there is absolutely no need to do so.

Weird problems involving volume, such as the length of a wire (two separate examples, under "Chemistry", on YA this week)

Stupid parodies of the scientific method, which muddle up different meanings of the word "theory", and give ammunition to creationists

We are supposed to have a working memory of 7 +/- 2 items. Why do we handicap our students by forcing them to reserve items for unnecessary complications, which must make it much more difficult to see the point of a problem?

(If answering, please say if you are a student or a teacher, and at what level)

Teachers: do you have favourite students?
Asked By Sophia,Last Answer By Alyssa N At 2009.12,1 Answers

My mom used to be a teacher , and she says , its not that you have favourites , its just that after some time you get to learn which students are nice people that make an effort, and some are rude and careless.Obviously it's more of a pleasure to work with the nice ones.
My opinion is that teachers have favourites because theyre only human. We all have favourites among everything - favourite clothes , favourite food.Students have fabourite teachers. So why cant teachers have favourite students?
