Can anyone help with a Q about a Virus that keeps pretending to be my McAfee Anti-Virus?
Asked By ♥ ℓιѕα мιcнєℓℓÑ,Last Answer By Zack At 2011.03,1 Answers

On my laptop i have McAfee and whenever i am online my little red McAfee M keeps popping up so when i click it says "Your McAfee Update is now available" but it asks if i "trust it" to download. I shoo it away and then open up my McAfee Security Centre and click on the "search for updates" so it searches for updates and then pops up saying "McAfee is currently update. No updates available".

So whatever it is isn't really McAfee! But WHAT is it? What virus is mimicking it and how do i stop it as it's getting annoying as it's popping up everyday and only does when i'm online which proves it needs me to be online at the time to pop up. I just ignore it and close it and then get my McAfee to scan to make sure it didn't download but it never does as it needs my say so first.

With McAfee i have a tick system. If it's safe my McAfee Site Advisor goes green with little green ticks, red with little red crosses if it's not, yellow with little yellow !'s points if it's unsure and grey with little ? marks if it hasn't checked it yet. And whatever this thing is manages to copy my McAfee M and make everything go green!!

So can anyone help???

Thanks, Lisa Michelle x x lol x x

I've removed a program(via add/remove): if now restore computer to prior date, will program be re-added?
Asked By Alberich,Last Answer By i. jones At 2009.12,1 Answers

I have Windows XP Home Edition(Dell B-110 computer). And just removed a program, by way of the administrate and maintenance operation from the control panel, using the adjunct "Add/Remove" option.

My question is if I now restore my computer to a prior date, will the program removed be re-added?

Thanks,

Alberich

Where can i download the program (SndVol32.exe)? which is the volume control program for a p.c?
Asked By charlie_keyz,Last Answer By 198.56.185.* At 2016.09,5 Answers

First try this: Go into your Control Panel and open Folder Options, under the View tab uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)", click Apply/OK. Now go into Windows Explorer(Not Internet Explorer) and go to C:WindowsSystem32dllcache folder and open it. Locate the sndvol32.exe file right click it,choose copy. Next go to the C:WindowsSystem32 folder and open it. In the right pane right click an empty area and choose Paste. Now you should have your volume icon back.

if this doesn't work, then download the exe file from:
www.relaxingsoftware.com/sndvol32.exe
