If you are a recent immigrant to UK you can use your respective license upto 1 year from the day you first entered UK. After that you need a full UK license to drive on public roads.
You need to get a provisonal license, book your theory test, once passed then book for practical test, all of it may take upto 3 months , so i suggest you dont wait till the last minute
To apply for provisional license you need a valid passport. It takes about 2 to 4 weeks to process. once you get it your indian license become invalid as far as UK public roads are concerned. You can book your theory test which also needs some preparation, Once you pass it then becomes the hard part. Not booking the actual test , but passing it.

I was in a nasty accident a few years back, I even made the front page of the newspaper here, and since then I am scared of driving esp, in the day. I bought a car which I am going to practice driving with a licenced driver until I get my driving confidence back...I cant get over this fear and it was like 4 years ago I was in the accident.
I am serious!!!!
I cant just stay in the house all the time, like I do now.

It can be confirmed through the concerned MV Deptt., from where the license has been issued.
The place of issue is mentioned on the License.

Yes you can. As others have said, if you have a learner's permit (which is not a driver's license) you can drive as long as you meet the requirements of the permit. (Licensed adult driver with you)
You also do not need a driver's license to drive on private property not open to the public! For example, if you live on a farm, you can drive cars and trucks on the farm property as soon as you have parental permission and your feet reach the pedals! A vehicle being driven only on such property doesn't even need to have tags!
You can also drive a race car on a track without a license, at the local dirt track, 14 year olds can race!!

Passed driving test, had full licence, got caught speeding within 2 years, went to Court, 6 points, DVLA revoked licence.
Passed test, got full licence, got caught speeding, given FPN £60 and 3 points, still within 2 years of passing second test.
Do I lose my licence again or are the first 6 points discounted?
Sensible answers only please

Some countries do not acknowledge licenses from other countries though this is not common it does happen. Antigua I know did not acknowledge my US license. A temporary license can usually be procured for a small fee provided you do have a valid drivers license from your country. Check with the local department of motor vehicles when you reach your destination.
