Sex education saves lives and misery. It isn't just a good idea it is essential, as is the availability of free/cheap contraception for all. Successive UK Governments are been very happy to subsidize smoking-related illness in the past. There should be hypothecated taxes for free contraception and they should re-prioritize grants/funding given to other countries where overpopulation and Aids are massive and rapidly growing problems.
BUT How can we preach about Sex Education when it is still not even effective in the UK. It is not just about unplanned pregnancy and overpopulation. The public became very aware of Aids in the 1980s because of high profile celebrity
deaths such as Freddy Mercury and Kenny Evritt.
It is not just young people today who do not see Aids as a problem. Married people who grew up in the 1980's are no longer practicing safe sex. The number of 'innocent' people who have been infected by HIV by a long term partner who cheats is also on the increase. We have become either arrogant or are cognitive dissonant.
I have insured my children have had a good sex education has been a vital part of their upbringing and will continue to be as it is can be a matter of life and death.
Shouldn't every teenager of every nation be given the same information?

Why it is beyond the scope of most of the students belonging to poor and middle class family? Why can't this be made affordable to larger mass of people?

It depends on how you choose to look at modernization. Considering the fact that India still produces some of the best brains on this planet, maybe its ok to retain the current system.
But then again, testing all that you learned over a period of one year or one semester in just 2-3 hrs is meaningless. People by-heart most of the stuff and hardly understand what the true meaning is. (in these cases, I personally believe it is better not to learn at all)
So with respect to the evaluation pattern, yes definitely I feel there should be a change. Also, modern tools like computer graphics, the internet etc can be used to provide a better learning experience for students (this would also be very enjoyable).
Further, I feel greater importance needs to be given to creative ideas rather than the same rote learning. Projects should be highly encouraged and should be a main-stay for marking and evaluation...

1st - I guess, first we should stop teaching the old history of the brutal rulers of India and freedom fighters. It has made our minds to believe and respect the ruler like British. We still believe them as the Boss of India. Why we should we call the Queen of British Empire as “Queen Let her be in the history. It's meaningless to remember all those days, which just doesn't create any patriotism in the present generation, who are more than 50 years away from that bad phase of the time.
2nd - India has grown in many sectors like Space, Defense and Nuke. All such organizations keep fantastic photographs of space launch vehicle, satellite, missiles etc. on the walls of organizations. What's the meaning to keep all inventions on their own walls? The right place of such photos is walls of the schools, where it would make the entire new generation curious about our developments. This curiosity will generate the best generation of scientists for our own country. I wrote this to Dr. Kalam and requested him to instruct all such organizations to release free photographs to schools. His vision of India in 2020 will have no real meaning in 2020, when we continue producing our technologies based on foreign inventions. We owe the strong technological base to our future generations and not the old history of the brutal rulers. If we have to keep the history live in our text book, fine, keep it in just 1 chapter, starting from King Babar to 15th August 1947.
3rd - We have been taught accepting the best technologies of the world as taken for granted. No real concept in text books.
4th - We are weak in physics and astrophysics. Majority of us do not know much about our own planet "Earth" and the outer space is far beyond the imagination. Yes, we all know few planets because of "Astrology (fake predications)". We don't know about dangers to the earth from the outer space. School has no telescope or astro-binocular. Astrophysics is a subject which can be taught for several years in schools.
5th - I think the technological know-how in the new generation can change our thoughts about the present beliefs in several Gods (in India) and an Astrology (which is mostly a fake). Our religious background doesn't permit us to believe in the other's God. I think all should understand this universe with the help of Astronomy and it will make you understand that we are just like a sand particle in the Sahara desert. Understanding this universe will take us closer to the creator of the universe (may be the GOD).
There are many untouched issues, which can help to update the present education. This is enough for today, isn’t it?
