How can I get better and better at acting besides acting classes and joining local plays?

I mean, is there a way that you could practice acting alone in your house everyday. Because unlike singing, sports or playing an instrument which you could practice and train everyday with the right tools to become the best in that certain field, acting is different. How do you train yourself in acting so you can become the best in it? And is it just subjective, meaning other factors like the roles given to you, the emotional depth of the roles given to you, natural talent and your personality affect how your being good at acting is determined?

Do you really need acting classes to become a actor?

It helps. Decent acting classes should make anyone with talent better... even just a class which teaches the basics like "the method" or character development or breathing, projection, and enunciation.

They can also give you more depth as an actor. Have you ever noticed that some well known actors are good but always seem to be playing themselves "as" the character? Tom Cruise is a good example. No matter the role, it's always Tom Cruise as the secret agent, Tom Cruise as the father whose town is invaded by aliens, etc. He's entertaining and marketable, but don't expect to see him holding an Oscar anytime soon.

Other actors, like Meryl Streep, seem to become different people for different roles.

The difference? Often it's training as an actor which can hone basic talent and give it depth.

Acting coaches can also give you the information you need to to make an idiot of yourself at auditions. They'll tell you how and what to prepare, what to bring, what not to do, etc. You can have all the talent in the world, but if you're wasting the casting directors time because you didn't know how or what to prepare, you'll never get to show it.

If you have access to community theatre and are interested in learning "the ropes" of acting and auditioning, you can learn a lot there, too. It might be a good starting place.

Good Luck!!

How can I learn acting without paying for classes?

for classes?
Acting is an amazing skill that is best learned in a theater with other professionals. However, I understand that this isn’t always possible. Maybe you don’t have much money and just want to learn a new skill in your free time. That’s admirable and I respect that. First of all, there are loads of free acting classes available online. I use YouTube which has a wealth of information about how to become a better actor.

Secondly, you can learn more about acting by watching more TV shows and movies. I have a list of Netflix movies that I want to watch which I know use some of the world’s best actors. I watch these movies but rather than just sitting back and relaxing, I really focus on the acting skills. If you take notes whenever you spot something good, then you’ll start to understand the craft. To watch other actors and become inspired, find movies on this website https://www.netflixmoviesearch.com/movies

"How can I improve my acting lifestyle" as opposed to "How do you pursue an acting career"?
Asked By DraMuse,Last Answer By Todd At 2009.12,1 Answers

I have seen and answered the question "How do you pursue an acting career" over 1000 times here on Yahoo Answers and I think it is worded incorrectly.

As one of those who live and breathe acting I feel it is better worded as this:
"How can I improve my acting lifestyle?"

'Cause really kids, smoke, mirrors and fairy dust aside that is what it is. It is a lifestyle not a 9-5!
I'm not saying people can't act, I'm not saying people can't be a success - I am saying that viewing Acting as a Career simply doesn't cut it for 99%. There are a lot of non content people out there who take to this craft like chasing the tail end of a rainbow.

I believe acting is achievable. It is expression of self and others. It's not a 9 - 5! It's not a Golden wrist watch after 10 years or a Christmas bonus with sick and annual leave.
If we are going to take ourselves seriously with what we want, we need to be serious about what we are in and what we are trying to achieve.
"Ask for what you want, if you don't ask for what you want, you are going to get what you deserve."

Do you agree?

My cat is acting different?
Asked By Emily,Last Answer By Skittles At 2011.04,1 Answers

My cat is 11 years old and she has totally changed 1 month ago. She now meows a lot more; it sounds more whiny and strained. Also, every night for 10 years, when ever I pulled back the sheets on my bed, she would immediately jump in bed and cuddle with me. Now she wont even jump on the bed and would even wake me up some nights meowing pitifully until I picked her up and put her in bed...I don't know if it's old age or whatever, but it changed the beginning of the month. It was so sudden...
