I feed my fish in the morning and at night between 9 and 9.30 pm before i switch the light off and they always come to the top of the tank and the bottom feeders start to try and jump out of the tank at nine until i feed them.HOW DO THEY KNOW LOL

Obviously they have been very well brought up and went to the very best tropical fish school. So they are well versed in recognising the signs that feeding time is approaching.
My goldfish always came to the top of the tank and put it's mouth out the water when he saw my hand coming towards the tank.
It's the same instinct that it's time for feed for fish that still live in the wild. And there are many feeding triggers. Fish in tanks just adapt to different signals that it's tiem to feed. That's all
