I was diagnosed with mild Autism. I have a few gifts, but not anything really crazy. Nor am I insanely Intelligent, I don't think. I feel normal, if that makes sense. I guess it's normal for me, it may not be normal for everyone. OK. SO the weird part about me is that I understand pretty much everything, if not everything I have come across. And, I have an amazing ability to memorize. Plus, I can read very very fast (which makes the memorization phase go quickly). I feel my ability to understand and remember everything that can taught is pretty incredible. I have no idea what my IQ is. But, I will say, and this may sound bad, that I feel smarter than everyone I have ever meet. Of course, I must be wrong. That would make my IQ in the 160s, which is clearly not the case. However, I suppose it is particularly high. Just wondered if there is someone kind of correlation with IQ and autism spectrum disorders?

Meh, there are a lot of folks with high IQ who have ADHD, and one test whether you have ADHD is if you have a high IQ and fair poorly in your courses (as I did in college, with a 138 Weschler scale (which is the reformed IQ test with a lower scale, 130 is "genius") my grades given the effort should have been far higher). Of course, ADHD is co-morbid with OCD, ODD, autism, FAS, FAE and many other brain abnormalities as well that also mean low IQs especially autism.

What is most common with those who have Aspergers isn't that they are innately intelligent, it's the persistence and drive to learn all about one thing and that's what happens, intelligence is not a one subject test it's all the ranges of what one can be intelligent about. More then that, success is most closely correlated to a high social IQ, which, guess what, autism has a negative correlation with. So, high IQ or not, it's irrelevant, to me, in terms of life success - the big question is are you happy? Don't miss the forest for the trees.
