Motorways can be scary places for newly qualified drivers is it better to have some practice with an instructor or would having learners on the motorway be dangerous. Should it be compulsory, I mean you can avoid ever driving on them if you want. What do you think ? Maybe it might put people off learning to drive ?

I do not believe it is necessary because the same conditions apply on any busy dual carriageway. If you can drive on a busy dual carriageway, you can drive on a motorway. In some ways, motorways are safer because there are no learners and because drivers who lack the confidence to use them properly sometimes avoid them.
I think there should be more in depth questions about motorways in the driving test, especially about joining/leaving the motorway and about lane discipline but I definitely do not ever want to see a learner driver on a motorway.
